Black Hat At Its Best From – Justparking - An Airport Parking Site
A friend of mine recently told me about an experience he was having with a competitor, and how much the whole Black Hat practice has cost him.
In 2005 let’s call my friend Jones, purchase his domain name and started building his site, some of the stuff he told he did to try and get his site to rank would have been called Black Hat, but at the time he was new to SEO and wanted to try anything and everything.
Over the years Jones began to understand a lot more about SEO and the various do’s and don’ts that you need to adhere to if you want to have any lasting rankings in the search engines, he then rebuilt his site and started practicing white hat techniques and voila the site started ranking in the top ten for his niche.
Suddenly, Jones notice that his site started falling back and knowing that he has no Black Hat techniques applied to his site he said that he knew there was something terribly wrong which was not from his own doing, so he started investigating. Now if you’ve read this far please carry on because it gets really interesting from this point on.
Jones said to me that the first place he looked was at his Google webmaster tool account, fantastic place to start and what he found totally blew his mind. Over the years he said he was only able to gather a few hundred links to the site but suddenly he had thousands of backlinks. Now I would have said brilliant but wait for it.
All the links came from the same IP address with index.php, now for those of you that’s a little more advanced know exactly what that is, so Jones decided to follow one of the links. First he was redirected to a site called http://www.gnnu.com/airportparking2.html then a second redirect took him to http://www.justparking.com/ the site in question.
OK, now let’s recap a bit; let’s start over so we understand what’s happen here because I get a little confused although I know where this is going.
Here is one of the links http://www.parking4less.net/index.php
The site has thousands of backlinks pointing to it from the same IP address, that’s not good, sounds like the site is part of a link farm to me, then all the links redirect to two other sites, including the last site Justparking.com.
Judging from this here is what I think, everyone loses in the case, and here is why, Jones’s site will be classed as Link farming, the middle site is probably banned by almost every search engine and the last site is part of a redirect so it to might get knocked off by the search engines. Sorry Dude.
But that’s not all; Jones told me that in the description of some of the links have his email address, phone number and skype details. His email crashed with porn, his phone constantly rings with calls from India on SEO services, but luckily his skype is still intact.
Now I have seen many black hat techniques and to be honest this one has me confused, If the idea was to Google bomb Jones’s site, why redirect? Why not use Wikipedia or a site that will not lead to justparking.com and I also wonder if these guys do this to all their competitors, because if they do their techniques will get them in trouble.
So, to end this little article on Black Hat techniques from www.justparking.com Jones told me that he will let Google know of the incident and try to speak to someone from justparking.com.
